When I decided to start a blog, I thought about how I might do so in a way that was consistent with my own skepticism of the internet.  Specifically, how to blog in a way that did not give in to the velocity and easy voyeurism of internet communication?  My solution was to decide to only blog about those things which I had sketched by hand.  I am not an artist, that is not the point.  A sketch is like an essay: it is an attempt.  It is an impression.  It retains all the traces of its author–for good or for ill.  It is not “objective.”  It is not the world itself.  It is the naked trace of a contact between mind and world, mediated by the human hand.

That said, I’ll probably put some photographs in my entries, when that suits me.
